Forward P/E uses projected earnings for the upcoming 12 months, based on analyst estimates. Free cash flow shows how much actual cash a company generates after covering its expenses and investments, offering a check against earnings figures that can be manipulated by accounting choices. ROIC, meanwhile, measures how efficiently a company turns invested capital into profit, which helps distinguish businesses with genuinely strong economics from those simply riding favorable market sentiment.
